- Agree the treatment position relative to tanks, pumps and appliances. The installer should provide clearly labelled isolation, sampling and maintenance arrangements.

- Request a written handover showing the operating schedule, checks the owner can make and tasks reserved for the service technician.

- Monitor the consumables and operating condition specified for your selected system. Arrange servicing when performance changes or scheduled work is due.
- Recheck the treatment design if source water or consumption changes substantially. Maintain records of laboratory results and service actions.

Frequently asked questions
Will a softener remove borehole salinity?
A standard ion-exchange softener addresses hardness; it is not a desalination plant. Water with a salinity problem needs a separate treatment assessment.
