One standard quarter-acre vegetable drip kit comprising drip laterals, distribution pipe, filtration and connecting fittings. Tank, stand, source pump, long-distance supply pipeline, unusual terrain adaptations and installation are separate. Agree the bed layout and component schedule before dispatch.

Choosing this equipment

Provide bed width and crop spacing so the installer can determine the required laterals and connection points.

• Send your acreage, measured plot dimensions, crop, planting arrangement and slope information. Attach a sketch showing the water source, tank and proposed irrigation blocks.
• Provide tested source yield and the available flow and pressure. Acreage alone is insufficient: emitter spacing, zoning and water quality affect the equipment schedule.
• Request a bill of materials covering filtration, mainlines, valves, fittings and drip components. Specify whether pump, storage, installation and agronomy support are included.

Before delivery and installation

1. Agree the layout and zoning before trenching or laying pipes. The installer should allow access to filters, valves and flushing points.
2. Have the system flushed and commissioned in sections. Check representative beginning and end points for the designed delivery; correct leaks and uneven performance before planting depends on it.
3. Receive a zone map and an irrigation schedule that can be adjusted for crop stage, soil conditions and weather. Fertigation needs its own compatible dosing arrangement and crop advice.

Operation and maintenance

• Inspect filters, leaks and blocked emitters regularly. Flush and clean components using the selected manufacturer’s procedure and record recurring problems.
• Adjust irrigation with crop demand and observations on the farm. Do not assume a fixed daily run time is suitable throughout the year.
